How long do you go between meals? This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. Many people eat a late dinner and are then up early for breakfast, giving their digestive system little to no down time. For thousands of years people have fasted, often for religious reasons, but the health benefits are undeniable. The body was made to fast, that is why it’s natural to go 8-10 hours a night without eating. This allows the body to burn through the carbohydrates and start to burn fat. Fat is where the toxins are stored. The body needs to enter a stage known as ketosis in order to “clean house” so to speak. If you’re looking to feel better and drop some pounds, set your eating hours between 10am and 6pm. This gives the body lots of great time to reset. There’s so much to learn about healthy living, that’s why you can find all our Stay Young Medical Minutes and full episodes of the Staying Young Show at StayYoungAmerica.com that’s StayYoungAmerica.com
