Minty breath is more than just sexy, it’s healthy. This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. Did you know there is nutritional value in mint? Mint comes in over 30 different varieties and 70% of the world’s peppermint and spearmint is grown right here in the United States. It’s often found in gum and mints because it aids in digestion. Mint leaves contain very important antioxidants, trace iron, and some fiber. It’s a great way to dress up a salad and add a little zing. Mint has long been appreciated as an herb, as a matter of fact mint has been found in tombs that date back to 1000BC. If you chop up mint leaves real fine, you can even add them to your favorite drink. So start your own mint garden either in the yard or in your kitchen window and start seeing the benefits as you make mint a part of your daily diet.
