Health has everything to do with attitude. Research shows that attitude towards aging, relationships and life, all affect longevity.

  • General discussion on patient experiences as they relate to health
  • University of Rochester Medical center – personality plays a role in longevity study. People who tested high on calmness, empathy, curiosity, tidiness, maturity, and lower impulsivity were less likely to die young.

DOC SHOCK

Oral contraceptives have been around for decades and are a great way to prevent unwanted pregnancy, treat acne, and help with heavy menstrual cycles.  Although the pill has great benefits, some people may experience side effects.  Common side effects of the pill usually include bloating, nausea, headaches, and mood changes.  But, a new study out University of Greifswald in Germany suggests that women on the pill are also less likely to recognize complex emotional expressions, such as pride or contempt.  So, is your pill affecting your judgement?

Ways to control your environmental influences:

  • Avoid too much news
  • Know what you can’t change and accept it
  • Change things you can
  • Stay busy, but don’t be a busy body

Health concerns that often make a person “negative”

  • Blood pressure and stress
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Illness – viral and bacterial
  • Exposure to toxins
  • Noise pollution and stress

Segment 3:

We’re talking about how to stay positive in a negative world.

How to identify the root cause:

  • Keep a journal
  • Make a to-do list (is it too long?)
  • Have a physical examination
  • Balance your hormones

How to become a positive person:

  • Recognize negative thoughts, words, and actions and avoid them
  • Don’t confuse your life circumstances with your life’s worth
  • Control your diet – limit sugar and carbs
  • Exercise 5 times a week
  • Help others – proven to increase positivity
  • Yoga or meditation
  • Slow down and enjoy life
  • Limit electronics – smart phones, computer, television
