According to a Harvard University study, eating just a little over a cup of brown rice or Quinoa per day will cut your risk of a heart attack by as much as 9%. Why brown rice you may ask? Brown rice retains the nutrients that refined grains like white rice and flour don't. Not only will eating whole grains protect your heart, they will also improve bone strength, promote a healthy gut biome and lower cholesterol. Make brown rice, quinoa or whole grain oats part of your daily routine. Doing so, may just add years to your life.

But, did you know that probiotics are not just for adults? Children, even infants can benefit from probiotic supplements. These can come in a child dose and can easily be added to a bottle or sprinkled over food. The best part, some parents and doctors swear this is a cure for colic, constipation, and reflux. Rule here--probiotics are good for the whole body, so heal that gut biome together!

Researchers at Binghampton University in NY found a link between excessive worrying, anxiety, depression, and obsession AND sleep. According to the research, skipping sleep or having interrupted sleep adds to all these things. The good news is, getting adequate sleep can help relieve the worry and stress. My advice, make sleep a priority. Not only will you be happier, you will be better company too.

Been having tummy trouble? Did your doctor tell you to start eating yogurt? Great advice, the only problem is that here are so many choices. Low-fat, non-fat, light, and Greek. Labels can be deceiving. As a rule, light yogurts should be avoided whereas most contain artificial sweeteners. Yogurts with fruit at the bottom often have added sugar. The best option is to find a non-fat, organic, Greek yogurt. That way you will have all the benefits of added protein without all the unnecessary and sometimes harmful other ingredients.
