Can eating a high protein diet really help you lose weight? Well, researchers from Imperial College London in the United Kingdom reveal how an amino acid produced after you eat protein may increase the hormone GLP-1, which suppresses appetite, and reduce levels of the hormone ghrelin, which increases hunger. The study was done in mice and rats, but the same is expected in human trials. So, my advice to you is to load up on protein early in the morning and be sure that you have some sort of protein time you sit down for a meal. Keep in mind, I am referring to lean meats, not double cheeseburgers!
