College stress is overwhelming at times, and many people feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help when their depression gets out of control. People should know that depression is a common and treatable problem that they don't have to deal with alone. Invite your college kids to tap into campus resources to find help or tell a friend how they’re feeling. Keeping in touch with family and friends can also help alleviate the stress and worry that leads to depression.
