Today’s show is all about the prevention and management of diabetes.

 In 2012, American Diabetes Association reported that

29.1 million Americans, or 9.3% of the population, had

diabetes. This is a climbing number

 Prevalence in Seniors: The percentage of Americans age

65 and older remains high, at 25.9%, or 11.8 million

seniors (diagnosed and undiagnosed).

 In 2012, 86 million Americans age 20 and older had

prediabetes; this is up from 79 million in 2010

 7 th leading cause of death
