Are we suffering a pandemic of diseases caused by our sedentary lifestyle? A new study published in the Lancet Journal of Medicine estimates that about a third of adults are not getting enough physical activity, causing 5.3 million deaths a year. That huge number equates to about 1 in 10 deaths from diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and breast and colon cancer. A solution? What if we changed the way we thought about exercise? How about we stop thinking of it as a luxury or a chore and instead realize that it is a vital part of living a healthy life. Pay more attention to how much exercise you get and whatever it is, do more.
