Are you an internet symptom checker? If so, your chances of getting it
right are much lower than seeing an actual physician. A new Harvard study
shows that using on-line symptom checkers are less accurate and effective
than an eye to eye, hands on exam with a physician. In the study,
physicians outperformed on-line symptom checkers with 72 % accuracy vs
34% accuracy. So, next time you’re tempted to Google your diagnosis,
make an appointment instead. Don’t forget, some symptoms are signs of a
serious problem and time may be of the essence.
