An interesting fact about the intricacy of the human body, your left lung is smaller than your right lung—and that’s to make room for your heart. For most people, if they were asked to draw a picture of what the lungs look like they would draw both looking roughly the same size. While the lungs are fairly similar in size, the human heart, though located fairly centrally, is tilted slightly to the left. An easy way to remember which side your heart tilts is to think about saying the pledge. We cover our right hand over our heart, meaning it also tilts slightly to the left.
