We all know inflammation is bad, but do you really know how to reduce it? This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. Reducing inflammation within your body will help ward off diseases like diabetes, heart disease and even cancer. Inflammation from a sprain or a broken bone is good because that’s your body’s natural ability to heal, but when inflammation becomes chronic, especially on a cellular level, disease can set in. If you want to help your body turn down the heat when it comes to the inflammatory process, you have to eat a diet that it will agree with. Avoid things like processed carbohydrates, sugary snacks and fried foods. Then put your body on the Mediterranean diet filled with fish, nuts, vegetables and olive oil.
