Parkinson’s effects about a million people, with around 50,000 new diagnosis each year. When someone has Parkinson’s they lose control of their muscles, effecting the way they walk, their speech, and their ability to do daily activities. New research has found that exercise may make a significant difference, improving the lives of those effected by Parkinson’s. Boxing, dancing, and Tai Chi have all been found to improve movement and help lesson symptoms. The key is to stick with the exercise. Do it two to three times a week and within six months there should be a significant change. Trainers have reported an improvement in patient’s ability to walk, as well as improved strength and control over daily activities. So if you or someone you know is effected by Parkinson’s its time to make regular exercise a priority. Look for programs in your area that are specific for Parkinson’s patients.
