Parents, it’s time to talk to your kids about vaping. This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute.  The University of California, San Francisco looked at the dangers of vaping in teens. While e-cigarettes were meant to be a way to wean adults off regular cigarettes, it appears to be a gateway for teens that leads to smoking. Researchers found that teens can also become addicted to e-cigarettes, but that is not the worst of it. They looked at 104 teens and found that those who vaped had a three times higher concentration of toxic compounds in their bodies. For those teenagers who used both tobacco cigarettes and e-cigarettes, the concentration of toxic chemicals in the body was an additional three times higher than those who only vaped. It also turns out that some of these flavors, though FDA approved in their natural state become carcinogenic when they’re heated. Teach those you love to say no to Vaping.
