As we age our eye health can decline. Did you know that certain foods can protect your eyes? This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. Something happens after age 40. If you’re there, you feel my pain. Most of us either need readers or glasses for driving. But, did you know that certain foods can reduce your risk for aging eyes by as much as 25%? Start with adding Fish to your diet. Cold water fish is best because it’s the highest in Omega 3s. Nuts are great too because they protect the aging eye with their high Vitamin E content. Lemons and grapefruits are also idea because they contain high levels of Vitamin C, an antioxidant. Lastly, don’t forget to increase your intake of leafy green vegies, like kale. These contain lutein, which is known to protect eyes. This Stay Young Medical Minute is brought to you by Executive Medicine of Texas, a leader in preventative and proactive medicine.
