Show Topic: Making Healthy Choices While You Travel

Co-Hosts:  Judy Gaman, Walter Gaman, Mark Anderson

Guest: in Studio John Ayo

Segment 1:

Today’s show is all about how to stay healthy while on the road. Many executives travel the country each week, but travel shouldn’t be an excuse to make poor choices. We have a special guest in the studio with us, John Ayo, author of the book Travel Balance. Before we get started, let’s start with our own travel requirements. What makes for healthy and happy travel?

  • Roundtable about the types of travel we do and we like to do
  • Bad travel habits
  • Things patients tell us – perhaps excuses they make when traveling

THAT MUSIC MEANS IT’S TIME FOR DOC SHOC. A TIME WHEN WE FIND SOMETHING SHOCKING IN THE NEWS OR WE’RE SHOCKED IT MADE THE NEWS.

Loma Linda University has just made many new friends as they published research that dark chocolate actually reduces stress and improves cognition, immunity, and mood. They key is to eat chocolate that has at least 70% cacao (pronounced ca-cow).  Cacao regulates cellular immune response, neural signaling, and sensory perception. For many years, doctors have known that dark chocolate improves mood and the flavonoids in dark chocolate seem to be good for overall health, but this is the first in a scientific study that outlines exactly why it is good and how it works. Keep in mind that milk chocolate will not have the same affect, it has to be dark, very dark chocolate, look for 70% or greater on the label.
