Segment 1:

Today is the day. We are talking about sugar – something this country is addicted to! Later this hour we are joined by Warren Honeycutt, author of Get Lean for Life and a 6 time finalist for Mr. America.

Discuss Sugar – sugar content and labels

  • Sugar and the gut biome
  • average American swallows each year—a whopping 130 pounds of added sugars. That's about 22 teaspoons a day
  • Fructose causes non-alcoholic fatty liver
  • Hidden sugar – ketchup three tbls. = 12 grams of sugar = 4 cookies
  • Don't exceed the American Heart Association's recommended sugar levels, which are 5 teaspoons for women (20 grams); 9 teaspoons for men (36 grams); and 3 teaspoons (12 grams) for children. For reference, a can of soda generally contains up to 12 grams of sugar; a single slice of whole wheat bread contains up to 2 teaspoons of added sugars.

DOC SHOCK Okay, I was shocked by this one – not the results, just the facts of the study. The University of the Netherlands looked at the effects when a pregnant woman smokes marijuana. First of all, I didn’t know there were women out there stupid enough to do this, but it turns out that worldwide, 2-13% of pregnant women do. After MRI imaging of the brain of the babies after they were born, the ones who were exposed had thicker pre-frontal cortexes and later also developed mental heath issues. DUH!!!!!!  Read more!
