Sometimes we think we are reaching for a healthy option, when in reality, it's not really healthy at all. Granola is one of those items that you need to read the label on. The grains may be healthy, but manufacturers often lace the grains with sugar, or worse yet, artificial sweeteners. They have a tendency to also do this with dried fruit and nuts that go into granola. Some brands have as much as 450 calories for just a cup. Look for brands that only contain pure ingredients and no added artificial colors or flavors. Also, avoid brands that use sugar or other sweeteners.

Exercise is good for your body. It improves circulation, elevates your hormone levels, and helps prevent depression. Exercise that is not done with proper form can cause injury. For example, the holy grail is one yoga move that when done properly can have great healthy benefits, however this lunge is done wrong. it could cause pain or significant injury. When perfecting yoga or any other exercise routine, rely on a certified instructor who understands body mechanics. Remember that practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. In exercise you can take that one step further--improper form can cause serious injury.

Our lives move at a very fast pace. We can find ourselves moving from one task to another, stressing on how we will get it all done. Laughter is good for the soul and it is also good for the body. How often do you laugh? It's been said that kindergarteners laugh as much as 600x a day. As adults, we may have times that we don't laugh at all. Think there's nothing worth laughing over? If so, you're in a rut. It's up to you to pull yourself out of it. Schedule laughter if necessary. Research shows that if we take life seriously, it can make us sick. So, make one night a week comedy  movie night or visit a comedy club sometime.

Have you ever made a trip to the ER? Most of us have at one point in our life. ERs are designed to help with life-threatening illnesses or accidents, but unfortunately, they often get backed up with non-emergency patients. This back-up exhausts the staff and increases wait times for those that need help the most. Urgent care centers are designed to relieve emergency rooms by seeing patients that have urgent, but not emergent, illnesses or injuries. Urgent care centers can be more accessible with less wait time, as well as save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Understand the difference between ERs and Urgent care centers and use them appropriately.
