It is a common misconception that diet sodas are healthier than normal sodas. Because of this, parents believe it is better for their children. That’s not the case. A new study out of George Washington University found that children when drank low or zero calorie sodas consumed, on average, up to 200 more calories a day than those who drank water. The American Heart Association has also advised against giving children low or zero calorie beverages for long periods of time. When nearly one third of children in the US struggle with obesity, its best to stick to water.
