Did you ever eat bugs as a child?  This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute.  New research out of University of Wisconsin-Madison discovered the health benefits of consuming crickets.  You heard right, crickets.  Turns out, the little guys can help with gut health.  The study consisted of twenty men and women.  One group ate a normal breakfast, while the other added twenty-five grams of cricket powder to their breakfast.  Stool and blood samples were taken before and after a two-week period.  The group that ate the cricket powder had a healthier gut than those that didn’t.  Not only does cricket consumption help with gut health, scientists found that it also helps to fight inflammation.  You can find cricket powder and safe to eat crickets either online or at your local health food store.  This Stay Young Medical Minute is brought to you by Executive Medicine of Texas, a leader in preventative and proactive medicine.
