Have you ever paid attention to what and how much you drink each day? This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. Most people count the calories they eat but ignore the calories they drink. What you drink may be just as responsible for those extra pounds as what’s on your plate. If you’re a juice drinker, you could be putting yourself at risk for developing diabetes. A cup of orange juice is the same as eating four oranges. Even bottled ice teas can be loaded with sugar. I recently saw a green tea with 36 grams of sugar! Be smart, read labels. Drinking water is great and I even think adding fruit or cucumber slices to flavor the water is a great idea. Drink to stay hydrated, not to fill up.
