MUSIC FOR DOC SHOCK (JIM) THAT MUSIC MEANS ITS TIME FOR DOC SHOC. A TIME WHEN WE FIND SOMETHING SHOCKING IN THE NEWS OR WE’RE SHOCKED IT MADE THE NEWS.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in both male and females with more than 600,000 deaths each year just here in the US.  When someone suffers a heart attack, the good tissue is replaced with scar tissue. This stiff scar tissue affects the hearts ability to function properly. A new study may give a path to growing new heart tissue. Researchers at University of North Carolina and a group at Princeton University discovered a way to reprogram cells called fibroblasts into healthy heart muscle cells. There is still more work to do, but this is a significant step in saving lives.

Read the study!
